This system is designed to automatically create three-dimensional
solid models based on drawing data created with two-dimensional
CAD. No knowledge of shape handling is required for general-purpose
3D CAD. The user can continue to use the 2D CAD system.
A drawing can contain the following problems:
- Errors in the drafting between the drawings
- Lack of conformity in the drawing data
- Omission of hidden lines and other elements
When inadequacies and errors exist in the information
for a particular shape, the system draws its own inferences
for those portions, in order to produce more detailed
modeling of the shape.
Armonicos released a product using this 2D/3D conversion
technology as "Zuno
Solid Navi" by Photron Co., Ltd. For detailed information,

Outline
This optics simulation program tracks and calculates the
beams of light-conducting panels, backlights, lenses, and
other optical elements, and displays parameters such as the
intensity and light distribution. The actual measurement data
for the lamp can be used to match the product, to enable highly
realistic simulations. Additionally, operation is so simple
that even beginners without special expertise or knowledge
of optics and 3D CAD can run the program successfully.
Not only does the program reduce the number of times that
trials have to be run and improve the quality of those trials,
but it also reduces the amount of time needed for development.
By carrying out simulations using "FOCUS", products can be
designed with shapes that enable ideal light distributions
to be obtained. It is also possible to analyze products that
include free-form curved surfaces, an important capability
as design becomes more and more oriented to three dimensions.
Furthermore, because optical evaluation can be carried out
at the design data stage, the program can be used in a number
of divisions within the company, for example as a confirmation
tool following the design stage and as a presentation tool
once the product has been completed. For manufacturers of
electrical products and electrical and electronic parts, in
particular, "FOCUS" offers strong advantages to optical design
divisions.
Features
- Intricate menu configurations and specialized terminology
are expressed in simplified ways.
- The basic module uses the fundamental theory of optics,
enabling theoretical calculations.
- By tracking the process by which the light beam emitted
from the light source is diffracted and reflected, it is
possible to discover how light behaves, and this can then
be applied in various optical product designs.
- The light emitted from the light source can be evaluated
before the product is actually created, to see how bright
the illumination will be at a specified point from the light
source.
- The path followed by the light can be displayed, so that
any problems can be identified and corrected at an early
stage.
- The results of simulations can be confirmed through illumination
displays, intensity displays, and displays of the beam light
path, using contour drawings.
